Ireland's first net carbon hotel in Temple Bar, Dublin

Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Practices

Wren Urban Nest operates as Ireland's first net carbon hotel, using eco-friendly practices throughout the property. The hotel maintains a rooftop garden that contributes to local biodiversity. Dining and toiletries use local, organic products, and the kitchen operates as a zero-waste kitchen with filtered water stations for refilling bottles.

Rooms & Technology

Each room uses smart room technology to personalize the guest experience, including automated lighting and temperature control. The rooms, called Snug Nests, Cosy Nests, and Twin Nests, are compact but include soundproofing and blackout curtains for quiet rest. Cleverly designed layouts make use of every inch, with a rain shower, separate toilet, and a wall-mounted television.

Dining & Bar

The on-site ALT bar and restaurant offers an artisanal cocktail menu featuring local distilleries and live music performances. Breakfast is a buffet with full English or Irish options alongside health-conscious selections. Special diet menus are available for lunch and dinner, and the bar serves wine and champagne.

Location & Nearby Attractions

Located in Temple Bar, a riverside neighborhood, the hotel is a 3-minute walk from Trinity College and 400 metres from Dublin Castle. Nearby attractions include the Irish Whiskey Museum, Grafton Street, and The Little Museum of Dublin. The hotel is within walking distance of major tour bus departure points and public transport.

Services & Accessibility

The hotel provides a 24-hour front desk, concierge service, and express check-in and check-out for efficient stays. Facilities for disabled guests include wheelchair access, grab rails in the toilet, an emergency cord in the bathroom, and a lift to all floors. Additional services include luggage storage, a shared lounge, and a coffee house on site.

Highlights

Sustainability: First net carbon hotel in Ireland

Technology: Smart room controls for lighting and temperature

Dining: ALT bar with artisanal cocktails from local distilleries

Location: 3-minute walk to Trinity College, 400m to Dublin Castle

Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible rooms with grab rails and lift

“In my opinion, this property stands out as Dublin's first net carbon hotel, blending modern design with a strong commitment to sustainability. Its Temple Bar location puts guests within easy reach of the city's cultural heart, while the innovative room technology adds a layer of personalized comfort. I think that the focus on local, organic products, from dining to toiletries, enhances its appeal for eco-conscious travellers.”

Guests frequently highlight the Wren's modern design and excellent location for exploring Dublin, being within walking distance of Grafton Street and Trinity College. The rooms, though compact, are cleverly designed with amenities like USB charging slots, and some offer quiet surroundings despite the central location. central location delicious breakfast cramped room street noise
I totally loved the location. It was so central, a great base for exploring! the breakfast was also really good, such a delicious way to start the day.
The room was smaller than i expected. It felt a bit cramped with my luggage? the noise from the street at night was louder than i thought, that did make it a little tricky to sleep well.

central location refreshment stations
The location was superb. Shops lined nearby streets. refill stations for water provided refreshment around the clock. i loved the 24-hour reception, a beacon in the night. the bar was a special delight.
my only complaint is that the small room was really small. opening one suitcase was a tight squeeze. i felt that having two large suitcases would be a serious struggle.
